2023 E11EVEN UNPLUGGED SAUVIGNON BLANC
We grow some pretty special Sauvignon Blanc here on the Estate. The vines are old enough to provide balance and a wide array of flavor development during the long ripening season of our cool, coastal climate. I would argue that we are truly in a “goldilocks” climate for Sauvignon Blanc…cool enough to promote the bright acidity and tart citrus notes that we seek out each vintage, while also warm enough to achieve some of the tropical fruit aromas and flavors to round the wine. All winegrowing and winemaking is about balance and we think this wine showcases the balance of our terroir along with our efforts and decision-making in the cellar. We pick the grapes for Unplugged in the middle of the night to ensure the grapes come in very cold, which helps promote a slower start to fermentation and lower oxygen pick up. We also pick a few different times to ensure that we get a wider array of aromas and flavors. The 2023 “Unplugged” Sauvignon Blanc showcases mouth-watering notes of citrus, ripe passionfruit, guava, green papaya, pineapple, and aromatic kaffir lime and lemongrass. The mouthfeel is downright unctuous, while also showing a beam of bright acidity to keep the wine fresh and zippy, which keeps you coming back for more!
